Privacy Policy

The short version

You can use the quiz, the guessing game and the scorecard without an account, and those tools work entirely inside your browser. If you sign in or buy credits we store the email address you gave us, the plans you generated, and the payment record the payment processor sends us. We do not sell personal data.

What we store

The scorecard tool keeps its dishes in your browser's local storage. Nothing from the scorecard is sent to us.

• Account email address, and a one-time sign-in code that expires after ten minutes.
• Plans you generate: the city, your settings and the generated route, so you can reopen it.
• Orders: which plan was bought, when, and the resulting credit balance.
• Anonymous counts of page views and of a few funnel steps, so we can see which pages help.
• A hashed version of your IP address for abuse limits. It cannot be reversed to an IP address.
• The language your account is in, and whether you opted out of follow-up emails.
• A record of which follow-up emails were sent, so a reminder is never sent twice.

Cookies and similar storage

We set one cookie when you sign in, to keep you signed in, and one for guests building a preview route. Analytics and advertising providers may set their own cookies, which is why you will see a consent choice where the law requires one. Your browser settings can block all of them; the quiz and the scorecard still work.

Who else is involved

Payments are processed by a payment provider that receives the payment details directly - we never see your card number. Analytics and advertising providers receive aggregated usage data. Email delivery is handled by an email service. Each of them processes data under its own terms, and we only send what the job requires.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for the account and its data to be deleted. Write to contact@citytastetest.com from the address you signed up with. Deleting the account removes the plans and the order history; financial records that a tax authority requires us to keep are retained for the required period only.

Age

The site is written for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we store, the date at the top changes and the change is described here rather than slipped in.
